COVID Resources

Here at Brent C. Lin D.D.S., we follow and exceed the recommendations of the CDC, CDA and Cal OSHA. It is our priority to offer our patients a safe and protective environment for their dental care. Our daily protocols and extensive ongoing training are something we take pride in. We have enhanced our daily protocols to provide the highest level of safety for you and our team.

You will notice that things will look a little different in our office, and we are doing some things a little different also. We are asking that patients call or text our office when they arrive and then wait in their vehicle. A team member will let you know when you should come in for your appointment. We are also prescreening our patients and will be taking temperatures prior to being seen. We ask if you have any symptoms to please call our office before your appointment. We are also staggering our appointments so that we have fewer patients in the office at one time, and the team has enhanced PPE barriers.

Please continue to check our website as we are updating and increasing safety measures often to be sure you provide you with the safest environment possible.

When you decide you want to use Invisalign to straighten your teeth, the first step is to take a scan of your teeth using 3D digital imaging technology. The dentist will then use these 3D computer images to create a virtual treatment plan for straightening your teeth. The treatment plan will be used to design and manufacture a series of custom-made clear aligners that you will use throughout the designated treatment period.

You’ll wear each set of Invisalign aligners for approximately two weeks. After the designated amount of time is up for a set of aligners, you’ll simply replace them at home on your own with a tighter set. This moves your teeth little by little, week after week, to slowly realign them and help you get the smile you’ve been envisioning.

The exact amount of time your Invisalign treatment will last naturally depends on your unique case, but most patients complete their realignment in 9-24 months. During this time, you will visit the dentist once every 6 weeks or so to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Keep in mind that for Invisalign to work, you must wear the clear aligners for a minimum of 20-22 hours a day.

The Invisalign system is an excellent choice for both adults and teens who want to improve their smile without using unsightly braces. Invisalign’s state-of-the-art technology can fix almost all common teeth alignment issues that could previously only be corrected by metal braces. Since you just have to change the clear aligner trays every two weeks or so, you don’t have to go through the uncomfortable process of getting braces tightened.

Although you must wear your clear aligners most of the day for your treatment plan to work, you can take them out to eat and brush your teeth. This means that you won’t have to avoid certain foods as you would with metal braces, and nothing has to change about the way you take care of your teeth. You can also remove your Invisalign trays for certain occasions, such as special events or to play a sport or an instrument.

If you’ve previously had braces, but your teeth have shifted back, you can use Invisalign to realign your teeth instead of going through the uncomfortable process of getting braces again. In fact, Invisalign can even realign your teeth up to 50% faster than traditional braces. Invisalign is a much more efficient, comfortable, and aesthetic option for realigning teeth that have shifted than metal braces.

Some Key Advantages of Invisalign Over Traditional Braces:

  • Alignment trays are virtually invisible
  • Trays can be removed for eating, brushing teeth, and special occasions
  • Aligns teeth more gently and more efficiently than traditional braces
  • There are no wires in your mouth that can get damaged or cause injury
  • You just switch your trays yourself every few weeks; no adjustment required
  • Treatment can be up to 50% faster than with regular braces
  • Invisalign trays are made from a proprietary SmartTrack material that is comfortable in your mouth and along your gum line

If you’ve had any dental bridgework, Invisalign might not work for you. This is because the clear alignment trays are designed to straighten individual teeth. Since dental bridges connect two or more teeth, they can interfere with Invisalign treatment. If you have veneers or crowns, you may still be able to use Invisalign, but your dentist will evaluate your unique case to decide if Invisalign is right for you.

In many cases, the cost of Invisalign is similar to that of traditional braces. However, it varies depending on your unique case and the number of Invisalign alignment trays that you will require to complete the treatment. Most dental insurance plans will help cover the cost of Invisalign the same way they would for braces. This usually means that your insurance will pay for either a percentage of the treatment cost or provide you with a fixed dollar amount.
